IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (2102) Tantalus / TYC 1072-01065-1 event on 2023 Mar 12, 09:48 UT Visible from SE USA Summary ------- On 2023 Mar 12 UT, the 2.09928162403419 km diameter asteroid (2102) Tantalus will occult a 11.0 mag star in the constellation Aquila for observers along a path across SE USA. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 7.61 mag to 18.61 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 0.100 seconds. This update is based on, astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by the IAU Minor Planet Center. This work has made use of data from the European Space Agency (ESA) mission Gaia (http://www.cosmos.esa.int/gaia), processed by the Gaia Data Processing and Analysis Consortium (DPAC, http://www.cosmos.esa.int/web/gaia/dpac/consortium).
