IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (1002) Olbersia / TYC 2472-01545-1 event on 2023 Jan 04, 14:59 UT Visible from Japan, China Summary ------- On 2023 Jan 04 UT, the 25 km diameter asteroid (1002) Olbersia will occult a 10.8 mag star in the constellation Lynx for observers along a path across Japan, China. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 1.50 mag to 11.95 mag (the combined magnitude of the asteroid and the close companion star) for at most 1.810 seconds. This update is based on, astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by the IAU Minor Planet Center. This work has made use of data from the European Space Agency (ESA) mission Gaia (http://www.cosmos.esa.int/gaia), processed by the Gaia Data Processing and Analysis Consortium (DPAC, http://www.cosmos.esa.int/web/gaia/dpac/consortium).
