IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (253) Mathilde / TYC 5621-00611-1 event on 2022 May 09, 17:57 UT Visible from SE Asia, India, SW Asia Summary ------- On 2022 May 09 UT, the 57.9 km diameter asteroid (253) Mathilde will occult a 10.0 mag star in the constellation Scorpius for observers along a path across SE Asia, India, SW Asia. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 4.00 mag to 13.97 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 5.880 seconds. This update is based on, astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by the IAU Minor Planet Center. This work has made use of data from the European Space Agency (ESA) mission Gaia (http://www.cosmos.esa.int/gaia), processed by the Gaia Data Processing and Analysis Consortium (DPAC, http://www.cosmos.esa.int/web/gaia/dpac/consortium).
