IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (2731) Cucula / UCAC4 482-050110 event on 2021 Jan 26, 05:59 UT Visible from South America, USA Summary ------- On 2021 Jan 26 UT, the 47.9 km diameter asteroid (2731) Cucula will occult a 11.6 mag star in the constellation Leo for observers along a path across South America, USA. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 4.81 mag to 16.42 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 6.0 seconds. This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Hugh Harris, astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Bill Owen, astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by the IAU Minor Planet Center.
