IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (156) Xanthippe / UCAC4 529-017250 event on 2021 Jan 11, 07:16 UT Visible from Central America Summary ------- On 2021 Jan 11 UT, the 124.3 km diameter asteroid (156) Xanthippe will occult a 11.7 mag star in the constellation Taurus for observers along a path across Central America. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 1.63 mag to 13.09 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 10.0 seconds. This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Hugh Harris, astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Bill Owen, astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by the IAU Minor Planet Center.
