IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (2655) Guangxi / TYC 2473-00583-1 event on 2021 Jan 10, 17:40 UT Visible from W Australia, Arabia Summary ------- On 2021 Jan 10 UT, the 16.5 km diameter asteroid (2655) Guangxi will occult a 10.0 mag star in the constellation Cancer for observers along a path across W Australia, Arabia. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 5.37 mag to 15.37 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 1.3 seconds. This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Hugh Harris, astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by the IAU Minor Planet Center. This work has made use of data from the European Space Agency (ESA) mission Gaia (http://www.cosmos.esa.int/gaia), processed by the Gaia Data Processing and Analysis Consortium (DPAC, http://www.cosmos.esa.int/web/gaia/dpac/consortium).
