IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (243) Ida / UCAC4 573-014220 event on 2020 Dec 11, 05:08 UT Visible from W Africa, SE Canada, USA Summary ------- On 2020 Dec 11 UT, the 28 km diameter asteroid (243) Ida will occult a 14.5 mag star in the constellation Taurus for observers along a path across W Africa, SE Canada, USA. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 0.36 mag to 13.45 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 2.4 seconds. This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Hugh Harris, astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by the IAU Minor Planet Center. This work has made use of data from the European Space Agency (ESA) mission Gaia (http://www.cosmos.esa.int/gaia), processed by the Gaia Data Processing and Analysis Consortium (DPAC, http://www.cosmos.esa.int/web/gaia/dpac/consortium).
